Fingerprint jewelry

Fingerprint charms created as a keepsake of a loved one. Nice idea, simple and everyone will be unique.

Plant Cells

Possible imagery to encase my aloe leaves.
This is the cell structure that gives plants their strength. I could create a cage like structure out of welded steel to imitate the cells and place the aloe leaves with in.

Aloe uses

Some uses of Aloe found on http://www.hepatitiscfree.com/aloe_vera_book.htm
·
They become incorporated into the cellular membrane and make the cell more resistant to viruses and pathogenic bacteria.
· They improve overall cellular metabolism and functioning.
· They have anti-inflammatory properties.
· They provide critical lubrication of joints; helping to prevent arthritis and to heal it once it has developed.
· They aid in the absorption of water, minerals, and nutrients in the GI track.
· They improve macrophage (white blood cells) activity making them up to ten times more effective in engulfing foreign matter.
· They enhance the macrophage's effectiveness in modulating the entire immune system.
· They enhance the macrophage's effectiveness to stimulate and direct the production and release of antibodies (increasing the body's own production of interferon, interleukins and more).
· They increase the number of antibody forming T-cells in the spleen and increase the number and activity of killer T-cell and monocyte activity.
· They are responsible for aloe's special penetration properties.
· In conjunction with their cellular detoxification support and immune enhancement, they improve allergic reactions.
· They stimulate bone marrow activity.
· They stimulate the fibroblasts to release collagen and elastin to make new tissue (inside and out).
· The mucopolysaccharides in aloe vera enhance the functioning of the entire immune system, and repair and detoxify the digestive and elimination systems of the body.

Cool Band-aids

I love these bacon band-aids!
Wedding Band-aids by Alyssa Dee Krauss
Kiss it and make it better band-aids. Nice idea, when don't kisses make things better?

Band-aid Form

This is the same form I created using tuck tape, but they are now made from made band-aids. The top image is the beginning of a bracelet and the bottom of a broach. The use of the band-aids ties back to my theme of health and healing. Because the form resembles a flower of some sort, it was suggested that I find a flower that is used for healing and create it out of band aids, thus even further pushing my overall idea.

After looking at Nolke work I might even try casting or recreating these forms in metal. These forms could potentially be a serious of pieces, some band aid material some metal.

For now I will be exploring scale and form.

Pflasterringe

These are Kay Eppi Nolke Pflasterringe ring collection. She started with regular cloth band aids added designs and then cast them in various metals. The image of the band aid and its relation to healing and protection take on a different feel when it is no longer made of the same familiar material. The metal makes the idea of a band aid feel cold, because of the nature of the metallic material. The band aid is a simple object designed to protect and heal, creating it in metal elevates its original purpose. In metals these rings really take on a metal shield like quality.
